Adham Faramaway's Show at Chapter Reviewed

Art Monthly writes about 'In the Simmering Air and the Flows of the Undercurrent'
Hati Gibson, Art Monthly, June 2, 2024
Faramaway is an atist of Egyptian descent based in London and their work is connected to the land and to its mutability. The recurring question in their work is one of belonging, of how what might be considered or valued as a 'natural' border relates to marginalised bodies and places and how such borders can blur or otherwise be altered. At Chaper, the artist's works are loosly grouped around elements of found footagee, site-specific performance and organic matter. Arboreal structures, videos and paintings from between 2020 and 2024 undulate across the gallery spaces, where sounds simmer and secrete, moving images merge and multiply, and voices are dislocated from their sources.
