'Matthew Krishanu’s solo painting exhibition at Niru Ratnam’s new gallery near Carnaby Street, Soho was influenced by his mixed parentage of a British father and Indian mother and his childhood memories of Bangladesh. One of the most captivating works in this moving show is Mission School where twelve children are seated in front of at a copy of Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper which is propped on an easel. The boy on the far right looks unimpressed, bored even, perhaps a subtle commentary on the legacy of European colonialism.'
